Kaanam: The Forest Country

Kaanam Project is a small afforestation initiative in Southern Western Ghats in the border of Kerala and Karnataka states in India. Located in the biodiversity hot spot of Western Ghats, Kaanam aims to reclaim diverse evergreen forest in a patch of land which was degraded due to years of consistent monoculture.

It is a very frugal afforestation project in terms of area of land involved, available resources and pace of work. However, we are very excited about our small project and look at it as our first step of getting down to earth.

Here, in this page, we share stories from Kaanam, sharing with our readers.

Kaanam is an initiative supported by Indian Biodiversity Talks.
